  • An insider states that the second project is likely to be The Last of Us Part 3.
  • He expects Naughty Dog to release the game during the middle of the PS6 generation.

Naughty Dog announced its latest project, Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, nearly one full year ago. A few months later, the team also confirmed work on another game was moving along at the studio.

Previously, director Neil Druckmann stated that a third The Last of Us entry was being considered a few years back, suggesting Naughty Dog will eventually revisit The Last of Us. Elaborating on the future of the series, an insider states that the third game is still many years away.

Why it matters: The Last of Us Part 2 arrived just seven years after the first title, and the second game is already five years old at this point.

According to insider Detective Seeds, The Last of Us Part 3 is likely to be released at some point during the PS6 generation.

He believes that Naughty Dog’s unannounced project is the series’ third game, which will launch at the mid-point of the PS6 generation. This would mean that fans will not see a continuation of the IP till at least 2030.

Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet is also expected to be a few years away from release. The game has been missing from significant events and PlayStation State of Plays since its reveal last year, suggesting that the release is at least a year or two away.
