- Nintendo Switch has now surpassed PS2 sales in the US.
- It is on track to become the best-selling console of all time.
- Its successor is already in development and could be announced soon.
Having sold over 160 million units, PlayStation 2 is the most successful console in history. However, many still believe that the Nintendo Switch will eventually surpass the iconic console.
Although that milestone is still far away, Nintendo Switch continues to reach new levels of success. The handheld has just surpassed PlayStation 2 in the US.
Why it matters: This is a massive milestone for the Switch, as the US has been one of the biggest markets for PlayStation.
Just recently, a reliable industry analyst confirmed that Nintendo Switch has surpassed PlayStation 2 sales in the US.

Switch has sold over 46.6 million units in the US, making it the second-best-selling video game hardware. However, the Nintendo DS holds the top spot at the moment.
While the Switch has achieved another milestone, its sales have been declining, perhaps because fans are leaning more toward its upcoming successor.
Nintendo has already been working on Switch’s successors, and recent leaks have already revealed the console’s design. Other reports have suggested that it will be priced at $499.
Although an official announcement is yet to be made, it has been reported that Nintendo is planning to release the handheld next year, and an announcement will be made soon.
