Starfield Physical Copies Will Not Include Disc

All Physical Editions Come With A Download Code!

Update:-

Following the response, another Bethesda support account has clarified that standard edition owners will get a physical copy. However, fans looking to buy the Collector’s Edition will only receive a download code.

Original Story:-

Starfield is set to release in just over two months. Xbox and Bethesda Game Studios have already revealed plenty of information about the game, but fans are still curious to learn more in the months leading up to launch.

Recently, a Twitter user asked Bethesda Support about the physical copies of Starfield. The user wanted to know if the game would include a disc in the physical edition, but Bethesda has confirmed no disc is included.

Why it matters: Physical media is slowly dying out, but many fans still prefer physical discs for their games.

Bethesda also confirmed that no edition of the game would come with a physical disc. This includes the more expensive Collector’s Edition. It should be noted the tweet has now been deleted.

With the increasing focus on digital media, industries like film and music have shifted to a greater focus on digital releases. The same can be said for the games industry, but fans are not happy when a game skips a physical release.

Previously, Insomniac Games announced that Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 would not include a disc in the Collector’s Edition. Alan Wake 2 is also skipping a physical release, but this has allowed Remedy Entertainment to release the game at a lower price.

While this decision can be attributed to a growing focus on digital media, fans of physical discs will be disappointed.

Many gamers are used to collecting physical games, but Starfield cannot become a part of such collections. A lack of physical discs also leads to concerns about game preservation, but Microsoft will likely support the upcoming game for several years.
