Starfield PS5 Port Reportedly Targetting Spring 2026 Launch

Delayed From 2025 Due To Poor Expansion Sales!

Story Highlight
  • A new report reveals the Starfield PS5 port is set to launch in 2026.
  • The game will also receive its second major expansion and various quality-of-life changes around this period.
  • Bethesda reportedly delayed the launch to 2026 after disappointing sales of the RPG’s first expansion.

Xbox has already released many games on the PS5, including Forza Horizon 5 and Indiana Jones. However, one big game still missing from the PS5’s library is Starfield.

Rumors regarding a PlayStation port of the RPG were already showing up last year, but not much has been said officially on the matter. With fans still anticipating a PS5 release, the game is reportedly set to launch on the console in 2026.

Why it matters: Because Bethesda has a history of releasing its biggest RPGs on PlayStation, the studio could see plenty of success from existing fans on the platform.

Starfield
Starfield Saw Millions of Players Across Xbox And PC

According to a report from MP1st, Starfield will not launch on the rival platform in 2025.

This is largely due to less-than-stellar sales of the expansion Shattered Space. Xbox now plans to release the game on PS5 alongside its second expansion next year, which should arrive between March and June.

This version of the game will also launch alongside additional quality-of-life changes. Previously, the RPG received a 60FPS update and vehicles in an attempt to address fan feedback.

Therefore, fans can expect similar changes with the PS5 version next year. This also means that an announcement is not too likely to show up anytime soon. Perhaps this is why Xbox is launching the likes of Gears of War on PS5 for the time being.

Starfield Could End Up Being A Huge Hit On PS5

Because Xbox’s games have generally performed well on the PS5, Starfield is likely to end up in a similar situation.

The game could drive additional revenue for Bethesda and Xbox as they gear up for future support and work on The Elder Scrolls 6. Meanwhile, PS5 fans can continue to enjoy the remake of Bethesda’s Elder Scrolls 4 for now.
