Spider-Man 2 Unofficial PC Version Now Fully Playable

Also Features New Game+ Before Official Version!

Story Highlight
  • An unofficial PC port for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 was released last month.
  • This port has improved rapidly, making the game playable from start to finish.
  • It also includes New Game+, which is currently missing from the official version.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 had a spectacular release last year when the game debuted as PlayStation’s biggest first-party launch. Leaked documents from Insomniac Games also confirmed that a PC port would arrive for the game by 2025.

However, an attack on the studio led to leaks last year, with an unofficial PC port from modders showing up. This port was in a rough state last month, but modders have made progress quite fast, making it playable from start to finish.

Why it matters: While this port is controversial due to Insomniac Games’ data breach from 2023, it highlights the modding community’s skills and talents.

As seen above, a YouTube video shows the game in action. While it is still a far cry from Insomniac Games’ PS5 release, it is in a much better place than before.

Bugs and graphical glitches persist, but it won’t be long before these problems are ironed out at this rate. The recent tweet from PC Focus also shows that the game can be completed in this state.

This user tweeted an image pointing to New Game+ mode. This feature is still missing from the official build on the PS5, making it surprising that a leaked PC build already has this game mode.

Insomniac Games recently confirmed that New Game+ would be available for console players on 7 March, giving the PC version a headstart.

Similarly, Marvel’s Wolverine was leaked on PC with a playable build. Therefore, Insomniac Games has suffered quite a bit after December’s attack, but the studio hopes to leave this instance behind and focus on future games.

Last month, many also claimed that PlayStation had begun to shut down this Spider-Man 2 PC port. Therefore, the game is no longer as readily available, but users who know their way around the internet should be able to find it with enough digging.

Meanwhile, PlayStation’s next official PC release is right around the corner. Horizon Forbidden West is heading to the platform after its predecessor became the best-selling Sony game on PC.

Hopefully, it won’t be too long before Spider-Man 2 follows suit.
