Spider-Man 2 Collector’s Edition Being Scalped For Up To $530

Nearly 2x The MSRP For Collector's Edition!

The successor to Marvel’s Spider-Man is finally set to arrive this year on October 20. Anticipation for the game is at an all-time high since its gameplay reveal at the PlayStation Showcase, which accumulated over 20 million views.

Pre-orders for the game went live recently, and the collector’s edition of Spider-Man 2 was available to buy on the PlayStation Store and PlayStation Direct for $229.99. However, it sold out quickly and is now being scalped for up to $530 on eBay.

Why It Matters: Scalping is a significant problem in the gaming market. Scalpers purchase products for the retail price and sell them for higher, which can lead to buyers missing out.

The difference between the retail and the scalped price is ridiculous, with prices up to twice as much as the original.

Users looking to buy the Spider-Man 2 Collector’s Edition can find various listings close to $350, but this is still fifty percent more expensive. It is also important to note that the price of these Collector’s Editions on eBay does not include shipping.

The Collector’s Edition of the game includes a digital copy of the Spider-Man 2 deluxe version, a steel book, all pre-order bonuses, and a 16-inch statue of Venom fighting the Spider-Men.

The pre-order bonuses come with all skins for both Miles’ and Peter’s Spider-Man.

Marvel’s Spider-Man will include both Peter Parker and Miles Morales as playable characters, allowing players to instantly switch between the two during free roam.

The map is also double the size of the original. Moreover, the game will feature Venom as an antagonist. As such, it is not surprising that fans were excited enough to buy the $229.99 Collector’s Edition.

Previously, games like Final Fantasy 16 were subject to similar issues, with prices going as high as $900. Insomniac Games’ latest title is now facing this issue, but fans can still easily buy the other editions of the game.
