  • The gaming giant points to the differences in both games, suggesting that they are fundamentally different.
  • Capcom plans to offer as optimized an experience for PC gamers as possible.

Capcom has been on a roll lately, releasing one big title after another. The gaming giant is now gearing up for the much-anticipated release of Resident Evil Requiem, potentially entering a new era for the franchise.

In addition to introducing a new protagonist and different styles of gameplay, Resident Evil Requiem is set to make use of Capcom’s famous RE Engine. Although this engine presented plenty of technical problems in Monster Hunter Wilds, Capcom does not expect these issues to show up for Resident Evil’s upcoming release.

Why it matters: Monster Hunter Wilds was widely criticized for its technical problems, which held back an otherwise solid release from achieving its full potential.

During the latest investor Q&A, Capcom was asked to address potential technical problems showing up in Resident Evil Requiem.

The publisher was quick to note that Monster Hunter and Resident Evil offer fundamentally different experiences. These differences extend to system architecture and network features, separating the two games from each other.

According to Capcom, no such problems are expected to show up again due to these reasons. The publisher also reiterated that it is working on optimizing the game for a wide range of PC specifications.

At present, we do not anticipate similar risks. We are developing the game to provide a smooth gaming experience.

For context, Monster Hunter Wilds’s technical problems were largely associated with the game’s open-world structure.

This release made it clear that Capcom’s RE Engine is best suited to smaller-scale titles, and the good news is that Resident Evil Requiem is not an open-world title like rumors initially suggested. Therefore, Capcom is confident the performance issues will not show up again.
