- Leon Kennedy is still the main protagonist for Resident Evil Requiem, according to an insider.
- The final game will have more playtime for Leon than for Gracie.
- Leon’s role in the game is set to be officially confirmed soon, as per the insider.
One of the biggest highlights for Summer Game Fest this year was Resident Evil Requiem. The 9th mainline entry will be the biggest one in the series, with Capcom aiming for a 90+ Metacritic score.
While the recent trailer showcased the series’ brand-new protagonist, Gracie Ashcroft, who was a surprise for many people who were expecting Leon Kennedy.
Now, an insider has confirmed that the game will feature dual protagonists, and Leon is set to be the leading character.
Why it matters: Leon Kennedy is considered to be the favorite Resident Evil protagonist, both by the fans and Capcom itself. His absence in Resident Evil Requiem’s trailer after months of leaks that he’ll be taking the next entry’s lead was disappointing. However, this report suggests that fans should keep their hope of seeing Leon still alive.
This report comes from Dusk Golem, a well-known Resident Evil leaker. According to Golem, Leon Kennedy is still present in the trailer, but fans are unable to pinpoint him due to his hidden appearance.
He further added that Leon has more playtime than Gracie, and his character will be revealed later in the marketing. His appearance in the game is expected to be officially announced soon, as per the same insider.
With regards to the game’s setting, Resident Evil Requiem takes fans back to Raccoon City. The city is almost completely obliterated this time in the trailer. This would also mark Leon’s third appearance in the franchise, and his character is so well-written that nobody seems to complain about it.
