- Capcom has finally revealed the much-anticipated Resident Evil 9 Requiem at the SGF.

One of the primary announcements that fans had been looking forward to at the Summer Game Fest was Resident Evil 9. While most expectations were shattered when Capcom said it needed more time, we were in for a surprise.
Just when we thought that the SGF was over on an underwhelming tone, Geoff Keighley had one more trick up his sleeve. Resident Evil Requiem 9 Requiem has been finally announced, and it even has a release date.
Why it matters: Rumors of Resident Evil 9 appearing at the Summer Game Fest had been circulating on the internet; however, most people were disappointed when it was revealed that it needed a little more time.
4 years after the last mainline installment, Capcom has finally revealed Resident Evil Requiem, the 9th official installment. It takes the series in a different direction, making horror elements its focal point.
While the trailer does have the familiar Resident Evil style environment, it seems this time the overall scare has been dialed up quite a lot. We see a return to Racoon City, some of the new monsters, and a new protagonist, Grace Ashcroft.

Those familiar with the franchise will remember Alyssa Ashcroft from Resident Evil Outbreak. Gracie is her daughter, and she’ll reportedly join Leon. S. Kennedy for the title. However, we haven’t been shown Leon yet.
Most importantly, the title has a solid release date, and it comes out sooner than we expected. Resident Evil 9 Requiem releases on February 27, 2026, which makes it just less than a year away at this point.
