Alan Wake 2: Remedy Stock Prices Rose Sharply Following Positive Reception

Highest Price Since June 2022 After 13% Increase!

The Alan Wake franchise has returned after 13 years. While this release was not as popular as Remedy’s other games, Alan Wake 2 has established the franchise as an icon of the horror genre.

With a score of 89/100 on Metacritic, Alan Wake 2 is easily one of the best-rated games of 2023. This success has led to immediate benefits for Remedy. The studio has seen a significant increase of around 13% in its stock prices.

Why it matters: This increase is just the initial impact of the game’s positive reviews. Therefore, the studio will likely find more success once the game is officially released.

The recent uplift in share prices has led to the studio’s share prices reaching an all-time high since June 2022.

Alan Wake 2 was previously dubbed the developer’s most significant project. While commercial reception remains to be seen, it will certainly play a crucial role in the studio’s future.

This release was always expected to perform well. However, a score of 89/100 on Metacritic puts it above blockbusters like Starfield, Final Fantasy 16, and more. Such reception has likely exceeded Remedy’s expectations despite the team’s confidence leading up to the launch.

Alan Wake 2 features jaw-dropping visuals, a tense atmosphere, and memorable moments. The game is packed with all the ingredients of a successful horror game, and its success is proof that Remedy has delivered one of the definitive horror games in 2023, putting it alongside games like Resident Evil 4 Remake.

Not too long ago, the developer made the decision to avoid clashing with Spider-Man 2’s release. This decision will also prove beneficial since gamers will not be forced to pick one or the other.

Nonetheless, we are happy to see Remedy doing so well. This release has us even more excited for the Max Payne remakes and Control 2, which are currently in development by the studio.

While it is unfortunate that Alan Wake 2 is limited to a digital release, the game is cheaper than most AAA releases that aim for the $70 price. This makes it a more compelling purchase since it can hold its own against the best of the horror genre at a lower price than the competition.
