- Pokemon Legends: Z-A is being review-bombed on Metacritic.
- The game currently has a score of just 4.3 on the platform, with multiple users leaving scores as low as 0/10.
- Common criticisms include the poor textures, lack of voice acting, and more.
Following a series of recent leaks, Nintendo has finally released Pokemon Legends: Z-A. The series’ latest entry serves as the direct sequel to Pokemon Legends: Arceus, the somewhat experimental title from 2022, but reception has not been the best so far.
Although many have praised Pokemon Legends: Z-A for various reasons, the game appears to have upset fans around the globe. In fact, the title is now being review-bombed on Metacritic.
Why it matters: This is not the first time a major Nintendo game has been hit by review bombs. In the past, a major release like Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom faced a similar situation.
According to Metacritic, Pokemon Legends: Z-A currently boasts a review score of just 4.3. Out of the nearly 400 reviews on the platform, around 60% are highly negative, while 10% are mixed.
Multiple users have rated the game 0/10 and 1/10, citing the general poor quality of Pokemon titles on the Nintendo Switch. In particular, they reference the poor texture quality of Pokemon Legends: Z-A.
Some have even compared the title to mobile free-to-play games, stating that the latter often deliver better quality. Others have also pointed to Nintendo’s $70 price tag, suggesting that the gameplay simply does not justify the asking price.
We deserve better. $70 for a game that worst textures than ps2 games?
Other criticisms refer to the poor models and lack of animations for the NPCs. Even on platforms like Twitter, the lack of voice acting has become a major point of contention regarding Pokemon Legends: Z-A.
Many fans argue that it’s time the series evolved beyond its Game Boy roots.
