Xbox Fans Won't Get One of The Best Looking Games of 2026 For A While!

Story Highlight

  • The latest trailer also reveals that the game won’t be on rival consoles for at least 12 months after this release date.
  • S-Game previously expressed interest in developing an Xbox port, but this version won’t come to fruition until at least late 2027 due to the contract.

Phantom Blade Zero has continuously impressed with each new showing, and its latest trailer is no different. Now confirmed for launch in 2026, the game has fans more excited than ever for what seems to be one of the most action-packed gaming experiences in recent memory.

Phantom Blade Zero launches on PS5 and PC on September 9, skipping the Xbox platform. In fact, it has also been confirmed that the title won’t be on Xbox till 2027.

Why it matters: Phantom Blade Zero continues the trend of third-party exclusivity from PlayStation, highlighting how the platform utilizes its leading position in the market to its advantage.

Phantom Blade Zero Exclusivity
Phantom Blade Zero Exclusivity Window Revealed via Latest Trailer

The latest Phantom Blade Zero trailer features a small disclaimer at the end. It reveals that the game won’t be available on other consoles for a minimum of 12 months after its release, meaning that PlayStation has console exclusivity locked till September 2027.

This means that the game won’t be on Xbox till the last quarter of 2027. Similarly, Phantom Blade Zero won’t show up on the Nintendo Switch 2 due to PlayStation’s exclusivity contract being in place.

This exclusivity window is similar to that of Silent Hill 2 Remake. The title originally launched on the PS5 and PC in October last year and was set to remain exclusive for at least 12 months. It wasn’t until November 2025 that the game finally showed up on Xbox.

In the past, discussions regarding an Xbox release for Phantom Blade Zero became quite controversial. However, the studio did note that it would consider the platform for a potential release.

Therefore, the team may begin work on an Xbox port soon after the PS5 release to ensure it can bring Phantom Blade Zero to Xbox players not long after the exclusivity period ends.

Meanwhile, Xbox will have plenty of big games to offer in 2026, including new Halo, Forza, and Gears of War entries.
