Outriders 2 Is One of the Two People Can Fly’s Canceled Games, Fans Call It Square Enix Curse

Square Enix Curse is Real!

Story Highlight
  • It has been revealed that one of the cancelled games from People Can Fly was Outriders 2.
  • This has come as a shock to many fans, and as the developer said previously, the cancellation occurred because the publisher, Square Enix, is to blame.
  • The sequel to Outriders was Project Gemini, whose IP is owned by Square Enix.

It was recently announced that two of the major projects that People Can Fly was working on were cancelled. For those not in the know, People Can Fly has worked on titles like Outriders, Gears of War: Judgment, and Bluestorm.

The studio is also working with The Coalition to work on one of the most hyped games, Gears of War: E-Day. There are many fans who enjoyed the game, Outriders, but unfortunately, they didn’t get a sequel. It has just been revealed that Outriders 2 was in development but got cancelled

Why it matters: Although Outriders didn’t perform ideally, it still had a lot of fans who enjoyed the game, at least until the end section.

Thumbs War has revealed that it learned one of the two cancelled projects from People Can Fly was Outriders 2. It’s pretty surprising that the studio was developing this game when the first title wasn’t particularly hyped.

There was hype surrounding it, and many players enjoyed it, but it may not have been enough to warrant a sequel. However, the studio may have considered strengthening the knots and creating a better overall game, which would have far exceeded the fans’ expectations, but unfortunately, they will never get the sequel

The media has confirmed, via an anonymous source, that one of the cancelled games was indeed the sequel to Outriders; however, we still recommend taking this with a grain of salt.

Additionally, it is worth noting that Square Enix collaborated on the first title, which had all the rights to the Project Gemini IP, which was subsequently cancelled. The Project Gemini is revealed to be Outriders 2, and fans were quick to blame the publisher for the cancellation.

The developer revealed that the project’s cancellation was because of Square Enix, so the curse is real.

The lack of communication from the Publisher as to its willingness to continue or terminate the Gemini project.
