Story Highlight
  • Moon Studios could be on the brink of closure as the CEO asks gamers to support No Rest For The Wicked.
  • The team behind the Ori franchise recently went independent and is facing a challenging time.
  • It states that review bombings and negative comments harm sales and threaten the studio’s future.

Moon Studios, the team behind the Ori games and last year’s No Rest For The Wicked, is quite famous for its work in the industry.

After going fully independent in 2024, the studio hoped to begin a new chapter of success and prosperity, with No Rest For The Wicked at the forefront of this ambition. However, recent comments from CEO Thomas Mahler suggest things have not gone as smoothly as anticipated.

Why it matters: Thousands of game developers have lost their jobs in recent years, and many studios, including those owned by big publishers, have been shut down recently.

No Rest For The Wicked Has Mostly Positive Reviews On Steam Overall

As per Thomas Mahler, Moon Studios may not be around to offer more updates for No Rest For The Wicked in the coming months.

This comment comes as the studio’s CEO asks his audience to leave positive reviews for the title on all platforms. As per his statement, review bombing can significantly hurt game sales and harm Moon Studios’ outlook.

He states that positive reviews hold more importance for Moon Studios than the average developer since the team lacks the backing of a huge publisher. Thomas Mahler urges his audience to continue supporting No Rest For The Wicked if they hope to see the game being completed.

It’s possible that we won’t be around in a couple of months to do anything anymore.

Perhaps Moon Studios will attempt to find a major publisher to ensure its survival for the foreseeable future. Because the team has a history of working with Microsoft, it could even end up absorbed in the Xbox Game Studios umbrella.
