Nvidia RTX 60 Series Delayed Beyond 2027 As Memory Shortages Intensify

The Next Generation of Nvidia GPUs Isn't Coming For A While!

Story Highlight
  • Nvidia has reportedly scrapped plans to launch the RTX 50 Super graphics card this year due to the memory dilemma and AI focus.
  • The company also appears to have cancelled plans to ship the RTX 60 series in late 2027.
  • A change in Nvidia’s plans could lead to a similar delay for AMD’s next-generation lineup.

Nvidia’s plans for the RTX 50 lineup’s Super refresh were thwarted when demand for AI suddenly shot up, and memory seemingly ceased to exist for consumer-grade products.

Team Green, being the leader of the AI revolution, was quick to shift focus from the gaming segment, and a new update highlights that it may have done so for the long term. According to a new report, Nvidia has delayed the RTX 60 lineup.

Why it matters: Nvidia has consistently released a new generation of GeForce gaming graphics cards over the last two decades. It seems the current memory shortages brought about by chip demand for the AI industry have put these plans in jeopardy.

The RTX 50 Super Won’t See The Light of Day

According to a report published by The Information, Nvidia initially hoped to debut the RTX 50 Super lineup at CES 2026. This information lines up with past rumors regarding the series, but the new report reiterates that no more gaming graphics cards are coming this year.

In fact, it is also said that Nvidia is pushing back plans for the RTX 60 series. Previously, this generation of RTX GPUs was expected to launch in late 2027, so gamers might not have new Nvidia products to look forward to till 2028 at the earliest.

Demand for GeForce RTX GPUs is strong, and memory supply is constrained.

At the same time, Nvidia is also dialing down production for various RTX 50 graphics cards, seemingly focusing on those with limited memory for the time being. Simply put, the situation is quite dire for gaming enthusiasts looking forward to new GPUs.

Perhaps the most disappointing part about the whole ordeal is that Nvidia was said to be tackling the issue of limited VRAM with the RTX 50 Super series and beyond. With memory shortages now rampant, there’s no telling when new graphics cards will hit the market.

It’s worth noting that leakers have insisted that Nvidia’s RTX 60 launch would also determine AMD’s release window for the next generation of RDNA graphics cards. With Nvidia seemingly ready to delay its next generation, AMD could follow suit.
