NVIDIA N1 Chips For Handheld Consoles Have Been Delayed Until Late 2026

A Delay for NVIDIA's CPU Plans.

Story Highlight
  • NVIDIA’s N1 and N1X processors have been delayed and are now expected to be released in late 2026.
  • The delay is due to engineering problems that might require a silicon redesign.
  • These are ARM-based chips for Windows PCs that will feature integrated GeForce RTX graphics.

NVIDIA’s original, highly anticipated processors, the N1X and N1, have reportedly been delayed, with a release date now expected in late 2026. In case you are unaware, NVIDIA will enter the consumer processor, SoC, and APU markets.

This means offering a variety of chips featuring integrated NVIDIA GeForce RTX graphics and an Arm-based CPU. The best part of this is that they will include the most powerful ARM CPUs yet seen in a Windows-based PC.

According to SemiAccurate, the N1 is in production, but new engineering difficulties have been identified that threaten to delay the launch date, which would now be the end of 2026.

Why it matters: This new issue could necessitate a modification of the silicon, which would result in a serious setback in production and shipments.

Geekbench NVIDIA N1X

Last month, we saw the performance of the Nvidia N1x in the Geekbench 6. The N1X is a GB10 variant, including 10 Cortex-X925 and 10 Cortex-A725 Arm cores. The N1X superchip has a similar appearance, but its fundamental specs remain undisclosed. It was allegedly an HP workstation with 128 GB of system RAM and Ubuntu 24.04.1 as the operating system.

According to comprehensive information, the N1X achieved 3,096 points in single-core tests and 18,837 points in multicore testing, thanks to a boost clock of around 4 GHz. The base clock is indicated as 2.81 GHz.

Regarding the graphics, there are only pure rumours. With 6,144 CUDA Cores, the iGPU has nearly the same number of cores as an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070, but with significantly lower frequencies.

As a result, its performance is most likely closer to that of a GeForce RTX 5060 Ti than the actual RTX 5070, which would still be impressive for an iGPU even if true. The NVIDIA N1C, on the other hand, would be a better fit for Ultrabooks or a new generation of portable consoles featuring NVIDIA hardware due to its smaller CPU and GPU chips.
