No Man’s Sky Experienced ‘Biggest Month In Years’ After Starfield Release

Likely Due To Starfield Excitement!

No Man’s Sky was a highly anticipated game before launch due to the endless possibilities of exploration through jaw-dropping 18 quintillion combinations. However, the game launched as a shell of what Hello Games had promised.

This led to a lot of negativity at release, but the studio was determined to improve the game. Similar to recent games like Cyberpunk 2077, No Man’s Sky has gone through a massive makeover, leading to renewed interest after a disappointing release.

Many have even compared it to Starfield, and it appears the recent release from Bethesda Game Studios has motivated many to give No Man’s Sky another chance. According to Sean Murray, the game has had its best month in the last few years.

Why it matters: No Man’s Sky is among the few examples of gaming where the developers were able to realize their initial vision after a disappointing launch.

Sean Murray is the founder of Hello Games, and he recently took to Twitter, revealing that No Man’s Sky is going through a surge in popularity.

According to the developer, this surge is not limited to a single platform, with console and PC players returning or visiting the game for the first time since its release in 2016.

Data from Steamcharts also suggests that the game has reached its highest concurrent peak of over 34K players this month since August 2022. At the time of writing, the game has over 21K concurrent players.

Much of the recent interest in No Man’s Sky is speculated to have come from the excitement and buzz surrounding Starfield. While both games are fundamentally different, they offer an immersive sci-fi experience.

The title also excels in some areas where Starfield falters. The latter has received criticism for excessive loading screens, but No Man’s Sky features seamless space travel between its numerous planets.

However, Starfield is just one part of the recent interest in the game.

Hello Games’ work has ensured that No Man’s Sky offers a compelling experience today, impressing players with its scope, exploration, and sci-fi elements. The latest update comes in the form of Echoes, adding even more content to the title.

Compared to the launch version, No Man’s Sky is nearly unrecognizable today. The studio continues to support the game, providing a great option for those craving a grand sci-fi adventure.
