Remake Announcement In 2023?

Recently Famitsu posted their annual interview with game creators from Japan, asking about their ambitions and comments about the games that will be revealed in 2023.

Noriaki Okamura, a veteran Konami Digital Entertainment employee and producer of Metal Gear Solid Portable Ops and Metal Gear Solid Survive hinted about a Metal Gear Solid project for 2023. When he was asked about his ambitions for 2023, he answered:

Outside of Momotaro Dentetsu, we will be able to announce several titles [in 2023], so please look forward to it.

When Noriaki Okamura was asked about his keyword for 2023, he said:

Long-Awaited

Undoubtedly these are some very ambitious resolutions by Okamura. As Konami has already revived the Silent Hill franchise with four new projects announced this year, including the Silent Hill 2 Remake, the next long-awaited project from the studio is a Metal Gear Solid Remake.

It has been a whole year with rumors about a Metal Gear Solid 3 Remake being in the works at Konami and Virtuos. Other than that, it was also rumored recently that Metal Gear Solid Remake would be PlayStation 5 exclusive. Still, the fans were not lucky enough to get an official announcement from the studio, and it has been a long time since the fans demanded an excellent Metal Gear game.

It is only fitting that Konami finally announces new Metal Gear-related projects as they did with the Silent Hill franchise. However, as this is a cryptic message from Okamura and does not entirely imply that he is talking about a Metal Gear project, it would be wise to take this news with a grain of salt until further confirmation.

It will be interesting to see what Konami has in store for Metal Gear Solid fans in 2023. What are your thoughts about this new statement by Noriaki Okamura? Do you think that he is talking about a Metal Gear project? Let’s discuss this in the comment section below.
