  • Their findings reveal that Xbox Series X delivers the smoothest overall experience.
  • While Series X generally performs better, there are moments where PS5 and PS5 Pro pull ahead.

Metal Gear Solid 3 remake has received widespread criticism because of its poor performance. The game struggles to maintain 60 FPS on RTX 4090 at 4K max settings, which is pretty disappointing but now common for most AAA UE5 Games.

That said, the game struggles to maintain 60FPS in performance mode on consoles. However, experts note the Xbox Series X delivers the smoothest experience, outperforming both PS5 and PS5 Pro.

Why it matters: Beating the base PS5 isn’t shocking, but outperforming the PS5 Pro is unexpected, and sure to raise eyebrows.

Digital Foundry has released an in-depth analysis of Metal Gear Solid 3 Remake on Xbox Series X|S, PS5, and PS5 Pro. According to their findings, the game fails to deliver a locked 60 FPS on any of the consoles, but the Xbox Series X manages to provide the smoothest overall experience.

In performance mode, the Series X not only delivers superior shading but also achieves a higher dynamic resolution compared to the PS5. On Series X, the game renders at 1152p, while the PS5 drops slightly lower at 1080p.

The bottom line is that Series X enjoys a performance lead over both PS5 machines. It positions Series X as the smoothest way to play on these three consoles.

The Remake of MGS3 Has Received Positive Impressions From The Critics.

It’s also worth noting that on VRR-enabled displays, the Xbox Series X maintains frame rates that are typically 5 to 6 FPS higher than its competitors. When paired with its wider 40–60 Hz VRR range, this makes it the smoothest experience among the three consoles.

That said, there are instances where the PS5 and PS5 Pro briefly outperform the Series X in terms of frame rate, but on average, Microsoft’s console consistently delivers better overall performance.
