Konami Intends To Make Faithful Remake!

Story Highlight
  • Metal Gear Solid 3 Remake was announced last year.
  • According to Konami, this remake will preserve the core of the original game.
  • The developer is currently focused on updating visuals.

After years of waiting, Metal Gear Solid returned with a major announcement last year. Metal Gear Solid 3 is set to receive a brand new remake from Konami as the publisher seeks to honor the IP’s legacy.

The publisher believes that preserving Metal Gear for future generations is its mission since the franchise is quite old. Toward this goal, it intends to keep the remake faithful to the original.

Why it matters: Metal Gear Solid remains one of the oldest and most popular franchises in the gaming industry since it has sold over 60 million units worldwide.

Yesterday, Konami’s official YouTube channel posted a Production Hotline video discussing the future and confirming that it is open to developing more remakes if fans demand.

However, Noriaki Okamura, who has been a part of Konami for many years, states that it is necessary to release a modern-style Metal Gear for modern fans. He is currently a major part of Konami’s plans.

Konami’s mission to modernize the series will not sacrifice its identity. Noriaki Okamura confirms that Metal Gear Solid 3 Remake will remain a faithful adaptation of the original.

The team will change aspects like visuals and gameplay to bring it on par with other modern releases. All of this will be done while preserving the core elements that many fell in love with several decades ago.

MGS Should Remain MGS.

When the producer was asked about the number of original developers involved in the new releases, he stated that a few are still part of Konami. Their mission also remains the same.

Preserving Metal Gear for future generations is key to the publisher’s plans moving forward since the newer generation may not be too familiar with this franchise. This shows that the producer wants the franchise to stay relevant in the gaming industry despite its roots from three decades ago.

Kojima Is Not Part of The Remake

We believe this approach makes sense. Many remakes go too far and end up establishing an entirely different identity. This does not seem to Konami’s direction moving ahead.

More details about the remake are expected soon, including an in-depth look from David Hayter’s perspective.

The release date of Metal Gear Solid 3 Remake is still a mystery, but PlayStation has teased an arrival before the end of 2024. Therefore, fans patiently await more details from Konami.
