Mafia: The Old Country Breaks Into Steam Top 3 Best-Sellers

Most Reviews Are Also Positive!

Story Highlight
  • Mafia: The Country’s launch was a bit slow, but it managed to almost tie the concurrent players with the first game in the series.
  • The game has also climbed the ranks on Steam’s best sellers list as it is currently sitting in the third spot.
  • It may not climb further because Cyberpunk 2077 (with a massive discount) and Battlefield 6 are in 2nd and 1st position, respectively.

Mafia: The Old Country was launched on Steam a few days ago, and the release was a little underwhelming. It failed to surpass two of its predecessors’ playercount on Steam, which was a little disappointing.

The main reason for that could be subpar marketing and average reviews from the critics. However, as the reviews (predominantly positive) on Steam piled up, more and more people decided to give it a go. Thanks to that, it reached a new all-time high on Friday and climbed the top sellers list on Steam.

Why it matters: Mafia is a well-known franchise, but the previous entry (Mafia 3) was extremely disappointing. Although the developer addressed most issues, fans remained hesitant to try it.

Mafia: The Old Country Is Currently The Third Best Seller on Steam.

As you can see in the image above, the game is in third place among Steam best sellers. We aren’t including Steam Deck because that isn’t a game. Battlefield 6 has been dominating the charts for nearly two weeks now, thanks to the multiplayer reveal and open beta.

At this rate, no game for a while may be able to dethrone it. Cyberpunk 2077 is at the second spot mainly because of the whopping 65% discount and the fact that it is one of the best games ever made. Right below it is Mafia: The Old Country.

It’s still a bit disappointing to see the game ranked below a relatively old game, especially one set to release in two months. However, given the lore behind both of those games, it is understandable, too.

With most of the reviews being positive, it seems like fans have enjoyed the game thoroughly. It also seems like a success for the developer. However, there are significant performance concerns thanks to Unreal Engine 5.

Many negative reviews of the game are about the fact that, as the beast, the RTX 4090 can’t even maintain 40 FPS at 4K max settings
