- In May, Konami posted on X saying that the Silent Hill 2 Remake was being designed for the modern audience, which caused a controversy.
- However, the publisher seems to have deleted the post right after the game’s release.
- This is a suspicious move, and Konami has yet to provide an explanation.
Silent Hill 2 Remake was released today, and its reception is pretty positive. The game received 95% overwhelming positive reviews from the fans in early access. The remake complements the original setting, so the fandom seems happy.
In May, Konami posted on Twitter that the game was designed for a modern audience. This caused a lot of controversy from the fandom that has played the original title. However, Konami seems to have deleted that post without really giving any reason.
Why it matters: Remaking a game and changing it for modern audiences doesn’t really sit well with the game’s actual fandom, and to many, it doesn’t seem like a smart idea.

Konami did post a tweet in May that is now not available. The post also included a video of Maciej Glomb, the remake’s Lead Producer, talking about the reason for changing the game. He said that the biggest change they had was how to make this game approachable for the newcomers who have not played the original title.
However, he said that they also want to retain the game’s familiarity with the players who played it 20 years ago. The video contained much more information about how modern technology has allowed them to expand some aspects of the story and enhance the gameplay.
So, Konami just deleting it doesn’t make sense at all. Some insiders previously spoke about how Hit Detection (Sweet Baby Inc. 2.0) is involved and has changed the character appearances. The company’s involvement is confirmed as it appears in the end credits.
Many fans believe that the change in character designs is ‘the woke effect’ and is done for the modern audience. Another insider previously revealed that the developers will attempt to hide the woke propaganda they forced in video games by not marketing them publicly.
This seems to be aligning with what Konami has done regarding the game, as after the remake’s release, it deleted the post without any notice. The publisher has not said anything on the topic, so it is better not to jump to conclusions, but it sure seems suspicious.
