Also Supports Hardware Ray Tracing!

The Apple iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max were announced yesterday, bringing a lot of new hardware and software-based tweaks. In addition to standard upgrades, the new A17 Pro processors bring massive jumps to Apple’s latest smartphones.

According to Apple, the new A17 Pro is their most powerful processor yet. The Apple A17 Pro now features a new 6-core graphics processor unit with support for mesh shading and hardware-based ray tracing.

This could potentially allow the new iPhone Pro models to now offer console-level experience in gaming. Apple announced games like Resident Evil 4 and Assassin’s Creed Mirage to demonstrate the capabilities of its new A17 Pro processor.

Using hardware-accelerated ray tracing, game developers can simulate realistic lighting, adding to the overall atmosphere of any given setting.

There is no information on what games will support the new ray tracing feature, but Apple is confident in delivering above 30FPS in games that support it. The new A17 Pro chip now features metal FX upscaling technology, which is also helpful for ray tracing workloads.

Both of these technologies should be able to offer a stable ray tracing experience on the iPhone 15 Pro models, while games that rely on traditional baked lighting will be able to perform much better with metal FX upscaling technology, potentially offering a 60FPS experience on a mobile gaming device.

Resident Evil 4 is among the best-rated games of 2023, bringing one of the best entries of the series to life with remade visuals and revamped gameplay. Following its release, the game saw impressive reviews across the board.

Assassin’s Creed Mirage, on the other hand, marks the long-awaited return of the series to its roots, focusing on aspects like stealth and parkour in a denser location compared to the sprawling open worlds of the RPG trilogy.

Alongside Capcom, other game developers like Ubisoft made announcements for the iPhone 15 Pro models, bringing next-gen console experiences with The Division Resurgence. Titles like Death Stranding are also headed to the smartphone.

Therefore, the new iPhone 15 Pro model is shaping up to be the future of mobile gaming and one of the best potential options to enjoy gaming on the go.
