Resident Evil And Devil May Cry Alum Hideki Kamiya Wants To Direct A Dino Crisis Title

Expert Verified By

Kamiya Doesn't Want To Touch Resident Evil Again.

Story Highlight
  • Hideki Kamiya, the creator of Bayonetta, wants to direct a Dino Crisis game.
  • The Devil May Cry and Resident Evil 2 director wants to give the IP a shot.
  • There has been massive fan interest in a new game, and Capcom has also been making silent moves to make it happen.

In the gaming world, Capcom arguably has some of the most historically influential and the widest variety of IPs in its vaults. The more popular ones, like Resident Evil and Monster Hunter, consistently release new titles, while some are forgotten, like Dino Crisis.

The franchise has been dormant for over two decades despite massive fan demand, and now, even Hideki Kamiya has expressed interest in the IP.

Why it matters: One of Japan’s most popular auteurs expressing interest in a Dino Crisis revival could be the spark a new game in the franchise needs.

In a new interview with The MinnMax Show, one of the 69 questions asked Kamiya if he would like to direct a Dino Crisis game for Capcom. The Japanese developer seemed more than ready, saying he would love to give it a shot, while he had no interest in another Resident Evil game.

I’d love to give it (Dino Crisis) a shot.

-Hideki Kamiya

The former Platinum Games founder has had an illustrious career in the gaming industry, making titles like Bayonetta and Devil May Cry and directing Resident Evil, among many other critically acclaimed games. Hence, Dino Crisis in Hideki Kamiya’s hands would definitely be something to behold.

For the longest time, Capcom has been hinting at a return of the beloved dinosaur IP. A company survey stated that a Dino Crisis game could be possible, as the fan demand was there, while Capcom also stated in a recent report that it wants to bring back older IPs.

Dino Crisis has a strong fan base that still wants a new game.

There are concerns regarding whether Dino Crisis would work in the current gaming climate. Still, the interest cannot be faked, and the Japanese publisher has been making some silent moves to release a remake or a new title in the franchise, including a trademark and other surveys to measure fan interest.

Do you think Dino Crisis deserves a remake, and if so, should Hideki Kamiya direct it? Tell us in the comments below or head to the Tech4Gamers forum for discussion.
