Leaving Every PlayStation Game In The Dust!

Story Highlight
  • Helldivers 2 hit another player count milestone by reaching 200K concurrent players on Steam.
  • The game surpasses other PC ports from PlayStation.
  • This title has satisfied PC gamers looking for co-op shooter madness.

Helldivers 2 continues to break PlayStation’s player count records on Steam, thanks to the growing interest in cross-platform games.

After a recent update on Steam, the game has become even more popular, hitting a whopping 200,000 concurrent players. This comes hot on the heels of another impressive milestone: selling 1 million copies just three days after launch.

Why it matters: This co-op release presents a strong case for day-one PC releases from PlayStation following its tremendous success on the platform.

According to data from SteamDB, Helldivers 2 achieved an impressive all-time peak of 203,644 concurrent players, making it the most successful PlayStation title to transition to PC.

This milestone surpasses the performance of previous PlayStation exclusives on the platform, such as God of War and Horizon Zero Dawn. Helldivers 2 is also doing better on PC than its sequel, which peaked at only 6,000 players.

This big jump in player interest shows how much the Helldivers series has grown and improved. The team has offered a different style of gameplay with the sequel while retaining the over-the-top comedic tone.

However, the game’s launch week wasn’t without its hiccups. Server issues and anti-cheat made playing online a headache, upsetting players and slowing down the game’s start.

Thankfully, Arrowhead Game Studios acted fast. They fixed the servers to improve stability and reduce delays. And it worked like magic! Players returned in droves, happy with the smoother gameplay and falling in love with Helldivers 2 all over again.

Helldivers 2 Is Centered Around Co-op

The game owes part of its success to how easily players on PlayStation and PC can play together. This feature brings everyone together, ensuring a smooth experience no matter what platform you pick.

This not only makes multiplayer more enjoyable but also creates a memorable co-op experience. Moreover, selling a million copies shows just how popular the game is. It’s a big win for an indie developer, especially with so much competition in the industry.

Bringing Helldivers 2 to PC opened it up to a whole new world of players hungry for co-op gaming. With the game on Steam, it reached PC gamers who might not have had a chance to play the IP before since the first game was somewhat niche.

Regardless, this title is just getting started. Arrowhead Game Studios plans to keep the excitement going with regular updates, adding more missions and enemies.

While talking to community members on their official discord, a developer assured them that the content roadmap is currently being discussed. For now, the team is focused on fixing the ongoing issues and deploying stability patches.
