Remake Limited To The Halo Story!

Story Highlight
  • Halo Remake is reportedly skipping the original game’s multiplayer component.
  • According to reports, a separate multiplayer project is in the works from developer Certain Affinity.
  • The remake could be officially shown off in October later this year.

Xbox recently teased Halo’s comeback for its 25th anniversary next year. This project is long rumored to be a remake of the very first game in the series, marking a huge moment for all fans of the series.

The original Halo helped bring Xbox to the masses and is often credited for the console’s current position. However, despite the popularity of Halo: Combat Evolved, a new report reveals that the remake will not offer the same experience as the original.

Why it matters: The report is quite interesting since Xbox’s upcoming Gears of War remaster includes both the campaign and classic multiplayer mode.

According to Halo leaker Rebs Gaming, the remake project was in development as early as 2023. Sources close to the developers have revealed that this remake will be a campaign-only release.

This means that the iconic multiplayer experience that helped popularize Halo will not be part of next year’s offering. Although Halo: Combat Evolved’s multiplayer paled in comparison to what Bungie delivered with later titles, legendary maps like Blood Gulch made their original debut in Halo: Combat Evolved.

Therefore, fans still hold the original multiplayer experience in high regard. Elsewhere, the report suggests that Xbox is working on a separate multiplayer title for the franchise in collaboration with developer Certain Affinity.

This may be why the gaming giant decided on remaking just the Halo campaign for next year.

Multiple Projects Related To The Series Are Being Worked On

The good news is that the classic multiplayer experience is still available as part of Halo: The Master Chief Collection today. 343 Industries also teased official news regarding the future of the series for October, so more details on the upcoming games should be available soon.

Do you think the remake will do well without a multiplayer mode? Let’s discuss in the comments and on the Tech4Gamers Forums.
