- Halo co-creator says Campaign Evolved is what he wanted to build with the original.
- He has praised the remake, calling it genuine and gorgeous.
- Earlier, another original developer criticized it, calling it a cash grab.
Officially unveiled last week, Halo Campaign Evolved has drawn a lot of attention. Primarily because it is the first time the franchise is heading over to the PS5. However, there are significant upgrades that can’t go unnoticed.
While the overall reactions are quite mixed, with some praising the remake while others not so much, Halo co-creator has praised Halo: Campaign Evolved. He says he wishes he could’ve built it this way with the original in 2001.
Why it matters: The remake brings in upgraded visuals, revamped gameplay, and more to fit the tone of modern games, and this is Microsoft’s way to reintroduce Halo to a new generation of players.

On X, Marcus Lehto shared his impressions of Campaign Evolved. He states that he loves where it is going, and the game feels genuine and gorgeous in a way that he envisioned it when it was first released back in the day.
For context, Lehto worked as the art director for the first three games and had the honor of designing Master Chief; therefore, he is also considered one of the founders of the popular Microsoft IP.

He kept his comments brief and didn’t talk about the PlayStation port. However, not everyone shares the same sentiment as another original dev, who remarked on his dislike, stating that remakes are just cash grabs.
Nonetheless, Halo is now back and will be available on all major platforms. It is even expected to head over to Nintendo Switch 2 in the upcoming years, as Xbox adopts a strong multiplatform strategy for its future.
