Pretty Surprising For A 20 Year Old Game!

Story Highlight
  • Half-Life 2, a 20-year-old game, recently received a new all-time peak on Steam.
  • This happened because Valve celebrated its 20th anniversary by releasing a massive update.
  • The game’s all-time peak on Steam is now over 64K, which is way higher than the previous peak.

Half-Life 2, one of the old classics that is still loved to this day, recently turned 20 years old. Fans have been constantly demanding a sequel to this game, which is considered a gem among gamers. While it is almost confirmed that Half-Life 3 exists and features a semi-open world, there hasn’t been an official announcement yet.

That said, just recently, Valve celebrated the 20th anniversary of Half-Life 2 and released an update which brought back all the players. Not only that, but many new players were also attracted, resulting in an entirely new all-time peak

Why it matters: It is surprising for a 20-year-old to undergo such a massive resurgence. This shows that Valve has a dedicated fandom that awaits new things from the company.

As you can see in the image above, the game reached over 64k players five hours ago. You would be shocked to know the difference between the previous peak, which was in 2022. This is all thanks to the new massive update released by Valve and, of course, the fact that the game has been made free until the 18th.

You can still grab it for free and buy the orange box, which includes many things. Right now, you can get in for $0.81, and the deal is available until 22nd November.

The update adds the two expansions, Episode One and Episode Two, to the base game, developer commentary, a two-hour documentary, and a lot more.

Due to this smart move by Valve, thousands of players rushed to feel nostalgia again, and many new players were forced to join the hype train. Regarding a sequel to this game, not much is known, but its existence is pretty much confirmed, so you can expect Valve to release more information about it soon.
