GTA 6 Might Not Be Delayed After All!

Story Highlights
  • An insider has claimed that the reports of GTA 6 being delayed to 2026 are false.
  • The game is still on track to release in 2025, and the past report is not much more than speculation.
  • Fans have been pleased to receive this update.

Update:

Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier has added his two cents on the situation. He states that a delay is not being considered for GTA 6 right now. However, with the complex nature of game development, there is no telling what can happen.

He states that sources at Rockstar had no particular reaction to rumors of a delay, suggesting that those reports were not the most accurate.

Original Story:

Amidst Kotaku’s report of GTA 6 being delayed, an insider has revealed that the game is still on schedule. The earlier report suggested that the title would likely be pushed to later in 2025 or 2026 in the worst-case scenario.

Why it matters: Rockstar Games has historically delayed its games in one way or another. Therefore, the earlier report was immediately believed by many in the industry.

According to Insider Gaming’s senior editor, Mike Straw, they reached out to many sources and deemed the reports false. The sources stated that a delay at this point is ‘pure conjecture.’

This is refreshing to hear and raises doubts about the last report’s credibility. GTA 6 is first supposed to launch on consoles and later on PC. A 2026 release would’ve meant that PC users would have to wait even longer for the much-anticipated entry of the franchise.

It should be noted that this does not mean a delay is completely ruled out. Game development is such a complex and unpredictable process that nobody can say anything for sure until the very end.

However, it seems GTA 6 is progressing rapidly for now.

The rumors around GTA 6 have not stopped following the first trailer. With new reports and leaks coming out every other day, there is never a dull moment for the fandom.

However, fans have breathed a sigh of relief after Insider Gaming’s statement. We don’t have much of a problem with either scenario since Rockstar Games has already taken a decade to release a new Grand Theft Auto.

Therefore, another year of development does not sound too painful.

An early 2025 launch seems likely for GTA 6 at this moment. Many job listings and industry insiders have pointed to this time frame. Also, the title is in its final stretch of development amidst fears of a crunch at the workplace as 2025 approaches.
