GTA 6 Is Deserving Of $80 Compared To Titles Currently Going For That Price Tag, Says Ex-Rockstar Dev

'You Think Mario Kart Competes With A Game Like This?'

Story Highlight
  • The former RDR2 and GTA 5 animator claims that GTA 6 is the one game deserving of a $80 price tag.
  • He uses the example of Mario Kart World, asking whether such a title can even compare with GTA 6 despite costing $80.
  • While reacting to Trailer 2, the ex-developer was shocked by how much Rockstar has improved the game since the last trailer.

GTA 6 finally got its second trailer two days ago, with the studio affirming that it featured equal parts cutscenes and gameplay. It’s clear that gamers are hyped, but an ex-Rockstar developer goes as far as to argue that no game comes close to the anticipated title

Commenting on the new pricing standard propelled by Xbox and Nintendo, the former RDR2 and GTA 5 animator, Mike York, claims that GTA 6 is the one title that deserves the $80 or whatever higher price tag Rockstar chooses.

Why it matters: An ex-Rockstar developer argues that the new pricing standard for AAA games is unfair because only GTA 6 earns it, compared to the current titles vying for it.

In an in-depth analysis of trailer 2, Mike York comments that other games launching for $80 to $90 do not bring the same level of features and mechanics compared to GTA 6.

He questions whether Nintendo’s Mario Kart World competes with Rockstar’s upcoming magnum opus despite costing $80.

All these other games that come out for 70 bucks, 90 bucks; I mean look you’ve got Mario Kart for $90 – you think Mario Kart competes with a game like this? as far as how much stuff they’ve got to put into a game?

In the reaction, Mike York was surprised by how much GTA 6 has improved since the first trailer. The lighting is especially superior, along with many other smaller details that have stunned the gaming industry.

Other publishers are fearing to clash with GTA 6’s launch window regardless of the nature of their games.

Rockstar Games has still not revealed an exact price tag for GTA 6, but analysts suspect it could range from $70 to $100. However, the fans have always been divided on whether such a high price is worth it, despite the former developer’s words.
