Gears of War E-Day was shown off for the first time exactly one year ago at the Xbox Games Showcase 2024. This reveal set the internet ablaze, confirming a return to the gritty nature of the original Gears of War titles.
Following twelve months of silence, Xbox has yet to return with more information on the upcoming title. However, Gears of War E-Day has received a new release window.
Why it matters: The wait for Gears of War E-Day marks the longest gap between two consecutive entries of the IP, resulting in monumental hype and excitement from the community.
Although Gears of War: E-Day was missing from the showcase, Xbox CEO Phil Spencer mentioned the IP briefly. He noted that Xbox is set to turn 25 next year, marking a major moment for Microsoft’s gaming business.
He followed by confirming that Gears of War: E-Day would launch in 2026. The CEO also confirmed that another Forza entry will be released next year to celebrate 25 years of Xbox.
The gaming giant has only shared a rough release window for the titles as of now, but more information should be coming soon.
Xbox has yet to confirm a PS5 release for the title, but Gears of War: Reloaded arrives on the PS5 in August, marking the series’ debut on PlayStation. Therefore, fans also expect to see the next big title on the console in 2026.
