More Games On Similar Scale As Elden Ring!

Story Highlight
  • Elden Ring has recently celebrated its 2nd anniversary.
  • The director of FromSoftware still has the desire to make games on the same scale as Elden Ring.
  • Hidetaka Miyazaki states that he and his team enjoy developing huge worlds and adventures.

Elden Ring has been FromSoftware’s most successful title to date, becoming so successful that it still has 100K players two years later.

In the past, FromSoftware has claimed that it does not understand this success, but the game’s scale has undoubtedly played a major role in its popularity. Director Hidetaka Miyazaki still finds this part interesting, expressing a desire to make more games on a big scale.

Why it matters: Elden Ring was FromSoftware’s first truly open-world offering, and it sold 23 million units. Therefore, this transition has been a massive success for the studio.

During a recent interview with Famitsu, FromSoftware’s director, Hidetaka Miyazaki, was asked about the DLC arriving in June and the future of the studio.

When Hidetaka Miyazaki was asked whether he still has the desire to create games on the same scale as Elden Ring, he replied that such projects are still thrilling for his team.

Yes, I do. if I am allowed, I want to try.

-Hidetaka Miyazaki

He reminisced and stated that Elden Ring was an incredibly fun project for his entire team. Therefore, the director is more than willing to do it all over again, even if the next project ends up less successful.

above all, creating huge worlds and adventures is amazingly fun. It thrills me.

-Hidetaka Miyazaki

This statement sets the stage for more ambitious projects from the developer. While FromSoftware has not planned an Elden Ring sequel or future DLC, the gaming giant could return with an equally massive new IP.

Since going open-world has been such a success for FromSoftware, it might not be interested in returning to the level design of earlier games like Dark Souls and Bloodborne.

However, the developer’s track record has given fans zero reason to doubt its ability to deliver.

Director Hidetaka Miyazaki has also hinted at adopting more frequent supervising roles for future games. Therefore, his contributions to FromSoftware’s upcoming titles might be headed in a different direction.

Still, another massive RPG from the studio certainly sounds exciting after the incredible Elden Ring.

The studio has already launched five games in the last nine years.

Last year’s Armored Core 6 was another excellent addition to the team’s catalog, leading to excitement for its next projects, whether they follow in Elden Ring’s footsteps or branch out in other directions.
