Features Revamped Combat And New Playable Areas!

Story Highlight
  • Final Fantasy 15 is reportedly getting a remaster soon.
  • The remaster is said to feature new playable areas, cinematics, and changes to the combat.
  • An official announcement could be made later this year.

Square Enix is going all out with the Final Fantasy IP, with rumors suggesting a remaster of a more recent title. Posted on Ganker, Final Fantasy 15 is said to be the next entry to get a revamp with an entirely new version.

According to the report, the remaster is supposed to be released quite soon and recycle some of the assets from recent Final Fantasy releases.

Why it matters: Final Fantasy 15 was one of the series’ most divisive releases, and fans felt that Square Enix didn’t exactly nail the game. A remaster with more creative liberty could fix existing flaws.

Final Fantasy XV
Final Fantasy 15 Was Held By Its Poor Development Decisions

The base Final Fantasy 15 had multiple narrative issues, which were further complicated by the DLCs, something the director regrets to this day. However, according to the report, the remastered version aims to fix all these issues by rearranging certain events to give a more chronologically accurate story.

This remaster also features new playable areas, implementing feedback that Square Enix has taken from the fans. The lack of world design and level diversity is one of the main criticisms of the game that Square Enix aims to fix with the remaster.

Moreover, the online and comrade elements are completely removed from the remaster to provide a more streamlined single-player narrative experience.

In terms of combat, the remaster is said to be quite similar to Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth. The game will also feature new 3D and 2D cinematics. Elsewhere, rumors have hinted at a Final Fantasy 13 remaster, signifying that Square Enix has more than one re-release planned for the future.

Because the report has been out for a while, an official announcement from Square Enix may be closer than anticipated. It could even show up sometime this year. Are you excited about a Final Fantasy 15 remaster? Let us know in the comments or head towards the official Tech4Gamers Forum.
