Shadow Of Erdtree Did Really Well For The Publisher!

Story Highlight
  • Bandai Namco posted a 51.5% increase in revenue year-over-year.
  • This increase is attributed to Elden Ring and Shadow of the Erdtree DLC release, which have sold really well over the past year.
  • With the momentum of Elden Ring slowing down, Bandai Namco expects a 22.1% drop in sales despite numerous releases.

Elden Ring has undoubtedly been one of the biggest game releases of this decade. The title practically popularized the Souls genre, with the whole industry following in FromSoftware’s footsteps.

Released back in 2022, the game still averages around 50k players a day, which is impressive for a single-player game. Moreover, it’s also a key driver for Bandai Namco, as the release of Shadow of the Erdtree alongside the base game has helped boost Bandai Namco’s revenue by 51.5% year over year

Why it matters: For a big publisher like Bandai Namco, a single release that helps increase revenue and profits showcases just how massive Elden Ring actually is.

Latest Financial Report By Bandai Namco

In the latest financial report published by Bandai Namco, it was revealed that the company’s net profit was $45 million, representing a 66.1% increase from the previous year.

Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree was released on June 21st, 2024, and went on to sell really well. The publisher also had major releases of Dragon Ball Sparking Zero and Gundam Breaker 4 last year.

However, Elden Ring is speculated to have made the most profits here. As of last year, before the release of Shadow of the Erdtree, the game had sold 25 million units. In April of 2025, the game surpassed 30 million sales overall, which is likely contributed to the DLC’s release.

The DLC sold 5 million units in its first week, and a year later, sales were likely to have doubled in size.

For this year, Elden Ring Nightreign has been released alongside the Elden Ring Tarnished Edition for Switch 2, planned for later this year. These releases will undoubtedly perform well for Bandai Namco, but they still expect a 22.6% decline in sales over the next year.
