Dragon Age: The Veilguard Fails to Take Off Even on PS Plus

Dragon Age: The Veilguard Isn't Meant For Success!

Story Highlight
  • Dragon Age: The Veilguard was released six months ago.
  • The game was recently launched on PS5 Plus as a 2025 March lineup but failed to gather a massive audience.
  • Old titles like Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and The Cowabunga Collection had more players than The Veilguard

Dragon Age: The Veilguard was released very disappointingly last year. While fans had massive expectations before the release, a significant poll found that the title was the most disappointing release of 2024.

Even though the developers had massive expectations, a recent report suggested that the developers were hoping the game would sell over 10 million copies in 3 months but sold over just a million copies in around two months.

The game was recently released on Plus Plus, and it appears that Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles The Cowabunga Collection had more players than the recently launched Dragon Age: The Veilguard.

Why it matters: It’s sad that a two-year-old title had more players count than a recently launched title.

This news comes from True Trophies, which gathered data from 3.4 million active PSN accounts. The data revealed the most popular PS5 and PS4 games for the first week of March.

Since Dragon Age: The Veilguard was released only six months ago, many expected it would easily reach the top of the list. However, the game had already failed to sell many copies. Therefore, many players may play the game through PS Plus.

Surprisingly, the data shows Dragon Age: The Veilguard secures the 15th spot on the list, while the three-year-old Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles The Cowabunga Collection secures the 14th.

Dragon Age The Veilguard
The Veilguard was shrouded in controversy even before it’s release.

Not too long ago, EA claimed that Dragon Age: The Veilguard failed because it wasn’t a live service title, making it even more unclear what the developers’ future plans are for the gaming industry.

Nonetheless, The Veilguard didn’t perform well on PS5 Plus, but did you expect it? Let us know your thoughts in the comments or join the Tech4Gamers forum.
