Diablo Immortal has been a hot topic recently. Blizzard’s mobile game saw huge amounts of criticism from fans and gaming media outlets. All of this has been due to the game’s anti-consumer microtransaction system. Reports have suggested that it could cost players $110,000 to max out their Diablo Immortal characters.

Despite all of this, the game has been relatively successful for Blizzard. Two weeks after launch, the game managed to earn $24 million from microtransactions. However, it seems like this was just the beginning.

Diablo Immortal continues to be extremely successful for the developer. According to the Appmagic data retrieved by mobilegamer.biz, the numbers are shocking.

Diablo Immortal

The mobile game has generated roughly $49 million in a month. This comes from 10 million downloads, more than half of which came within the first two weeks. Apart from the impressive download numbers, Diablo Immortal has also been making insane amounts of money.

June 11 saw the game making $2.4 million in a single day. This is currently the record for Diablo Immortal’s daily earnings. Exactly 30 days later, the game had earned $48,988,970, going by the Appmagic figures. This means the game has made well over $1 million daily for the last month.

It should also be noted that Diablo Immortal launched in the face of decent competition. EA’s Apex Legends Mobile launched a few weeks before Blizzard’s game. However, Apex Legends managed to earn less than a quarter of Diablo’s money, at $11.6 million.

These numbers paint a grim picture of the future of free-to-play mobile games. This genre of games has traditionally faced malicious monetization systems, but Diablo Immortal takes things to the next level.

While enthusiasts and media outlets criticize the game, Blizzard does not seem to care. The developer is making more money than ever before, and it looks like Blizzard has no intentions of course corrections. One could even call Diablo Immortal the most successful failure in series history
