Shifting Team To The Witcher 4 Now!

Story Highlights
  • Cyberpunk 2077 has received new updates and expansions, such as update 2.0 and Phantom Liberty recently.
  • Update 2.1 is coming tomorrow, but it will be the last major update.

CDPR successfully redeemed Cyberpunk 2077 this year with update 2.0 and an expansion of Phantom Liberty, both of which contributed immensely to the incredible revival of the game.

While the developer previously claimed that update 2.0 would be the final major revision for this RPG, it delivered a nice surprise recently, announcing update 2.1. However, the studio claims that this is the final update for the game.

Why it matters: The lack of future updates should help accelerate work on the next games from the developer.

Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty

Update 2.1 is quite exciting since it finally adds the long-requested metro system to Cyberpunk 2077.

Since this update came out of nowhere and led to hopes for even more patches, IGN reached out to CDPR for confirmation. The studio clarified that no more updates are planned for the RPG. A spokesperson said:

“Update 2.1 is meant to be the last big update.”

Since CDPR has already announced that the Cyberpunk sequel, codenamed Orion, is currently in the conception phase, the studio has a lot of work on its hands.

The developer has also shifted nearly half of its team to The Witcher 4. Therefore, this will be the major focus moving forward, with Cyberpunk 2077 only receiving the odd bug fixes or stability updates here and there.

Cyberpunk 2077 Night City

Update 2.1 will arrive on 5 December, and in addition to the metro system, this update will introduce changes to various boss fights, replayable car chases, and more.

However, the metro system will be the star of the show with 19 stations across 5 lines. CDPR has also hidden a few secrets in the metro system, encouraging players to look for them once the update arrives.

Nevertheless, Cyberpunk 2077 has had a great journey.

While many fans believed this journey was already over after Phantom Liberty was released, CDPR delivered a pleasant surprise to conclude this chapter of its game development.
