Cyberpunk 2077 & Phantom Liberty Top Steam Best Sellers List

Game & Expansion On Top 2 Spots!

Cyberpunk 2077 fans have waited nearly three long years for an expansion that brings more depth to the lore, expands on RPG mechanics, and introduces new characters to the engaging universe from CDPR.

Following this anticipation, Phantom Liberty is just a day away from its release, and the game has already begun to see a lot of excitement as the recently released 2.0 update helped Cyberpunk 2077 reach over 115K Steam players for the first time since 2022.

This anticipation has allowed the game and its expansion to climb to the top of the best-selling games on Steam, with both occupying the top 2 spots.

Why it matters: As the game is also selling well alongside the new expansion, CDPR could see a massive influx of new players looking to try Cyberpunk 2077 for the first time since the launch debacle.

Cyberpunk 2077 and Phantom Liberty have overtaken many of the recent releases in 2023.

This includes the likes of Baldur’s Gate 3, Starfield, and Resident Evil 4. Capcom’s latest Resident Evil game is also discounted at the moment and has received a new DLC, still being unable to beat Cyberpunk 2077.

A lot of the buzz surrounding Cyberpunk 2077 comes from its impressive redemption story. CDPR had already made it clear that the studio wanted to redeem itself after the failure in 2020, and it appears to have succeeded with Phantom Liberty.

At the time of writing, over 100K players are active in Cyberpunk 2077, peaking at nearly 170K concurrent players in the last 24 hours. However, these figures are expected to rise further once Phantom Liberty is released.

Cyberpunk 2077 is also discounted to entice players and potentially convince them to buy the expansion eventually.

It should be noted that the list excludes free-to-play games, but even with such inclusions, the game and its expansion do not fall below the second and third spots.

Phantom Liberty marks the latest exciting release from CD Projekt Red, showing promise from the early reviews.

The studio has been wrapped up with fixing Cyberpunk 2077 for the last three years, finally returning to the gaming industry with a new release after the launch disaster of its latest release.

CDPR claims both the game and its expansion provide a fresh experience for returning players, advising such fans to start a new playthrough to ensure the best experience possible.
