Cyberpunk 2077 is arguably one of the best video games out there. The game’s launch was rocky, really rocky, but that didn’t kill the developers’ morale, and they worked hard to make it a game everyone could enjoy.
Over time, the game’s condition steadily improved, and following the 2.0 update, its performance saw a major boost. The improvements were so significant that many fans argued that if it had launched in this state, it could have easily won Game of the Year. Now, five years later, it stays in the top three best sellers on Steam.
Why it matters: Cyberpunk 2077 remains so good that, even five years after its release, thousands of players continue to buy it.
The game is currently sitting at the second spot on Steam’s best-seller list for paid games, which is a massive accomplishment. This success is primarily due to a generous 65% discount.

Peak is currently holding the number one spot, with Battlefield 6 in third place. At number six sits Cyberpunk 2077’s expansion, Phantom Liberty, widely regarded as one of the best DLCs ever released, if not the very best.
Fans have widely praised the game, largely thanks to its exceptional open-world experience that few others can match. It currently holds a Mostly Positive rating on Steam with nearly 900,000 reviews and has reached an all-time 24-hour peak of 74,500 players.
While the recent discount has certainly fueled its resurgence, numbers like these wouldn’t be possible if the game weren’t genuinely great to begin with.
