Major Talent Acquisition For Cyberpunk 2077 Sequel!

Story Highlights
  • Various new developers have been hired for the Cyberpunk 2077 sequel.
  • Among the developers, the Narrative Lead from Fable is now part of the project.
  • The game is still said to be in early development.

In July 2023, Anna Megill departed from Playground Games after working as the Narrative Lead for Fable. Several months later, the veteran developer has joined another promising project, with CDPR confirming her involvement in the Cyberpunk 2077 sequel.

Better known as Project Orion for now, this game has recently expanded its team with various new developers. Apart from Anna Megill, the likes of Alan Villani are now part of the team.

Why it matters: These developers bring a wide range of experiences from different projects and genres, leading to more excitement for CDPR’s next sci-fi RPG.

CDPR’s latest announcement states that Cyberpunk 2077 has entered early development. Last month, the studio stated that the RPG had entered the conceptual phase, so the team appears to be making steady progress.

This announcement confirms that developers with experience working with teams like Ubisoft Massive and Blizzard Entertainment will lend their talents to the Cyberpunk 2077 sequel.

Anna Megill boasts an equally impressive portfolio. Having worked on games like Control, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, and more, she will help elevate the narrative and writing of CDPR’s ambitious sci-fi RPG.

Pawel Sasko, formerly Quest Director of Cyberpunk 2077, has also been promoted to the Associate Game Director for Project Orion. His new role could help CDPR fulfill its goal of offering more branching paths in the story.

Meanwhile, Playground Games has gone on a hiring spree of its own recently.

With various developers on board, both projects are seemingly headed toward a bright future. However, the Cyberpunk 2077 follow-up is still in the very early years of development.

CDPR’s major focus is The Witcher 4 for the time being, though the studio’s hiring shows that both projects are receiving plenty of attention.
