Huge Overhaul Coming With $30 Expansion!

Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty has received great anticipation since its announcement. A new look at the DLC was revealed yesterday at the Xbox Games Showcase, revealing several new details.

During an interview with VGC, Creative Director Pawel Sasko also stated that the Phantom Liberty expansion is going to completely rebuild the AI and progression system. According to the Director, almost every system of the original game has experienced changes.

Why it matters: Cyberpunk 2077 had a rough launch, falling short of its expectations, but the game made a huge comeback. CD Projekt Red has already improved various parts of the game, but Phantom Liberty promises to bring the biggest improvements yet.

He stated that the biggest changes were made to the perks and skill trees as they have been completely rebuilt. Pawel Sasko said:

“All the core, main systems of the game have been redone or updated in a major way.”

CD Projekt Red has added vehicle combat, allowing new car chases in the game, with players being able to use weaponized vehicles and aim their handguns through the windshield or window.

Sasko further states that the AI has also been greatly expanded, and they have completely rebuilt the Police system, which would now have several levels and archetypes of enemies chasing the players.

The police system will also be different in Dog Town, and the progression loop and difficulty tiers have seen similar changes. According to Sasko, even the UI and UX have been massively updated.

Furthermore, CD Projekt Red has improved the open world. Car chases will now happen more dynamically when factions fight.

While these improvements are coming with the Phantom Liberty expansion, CD Projekt Red is also looking to bring these improvements to players who will not purchase the expansion. Pawel Sasko stated:

“Our goal is to provide them to players of the base game as well. The core systems should be there – that’s our intention.”

Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty seems to be headed in the right direction. The $30 add-on will take place throughout the main plot, introduce the new district of Night City, and will also feature Idris Elba.
