Enjoy GTA-Like Co-Op In Cyberpunk 2077!

Story Highlight
  • CDPR has earned a lot of respect from everyone after Cyberpunk 2077’s comeback.
  • However, fans were a little disappointed due to the cancellation of the multiplayer DLC.
  • While CDPR may have moved on, modders are now working on fulfilling this ambition.

Cyberpunk 2077 became famous in the industry due to its disastrous launch. However, the studio attracted a lot of positive press by turning things around. It has many positive reviews now and is arguably one of the best games in the industry.

Fans even claimed that it would have won Game of The Year if it had been released like this in 2020. CDPR also intended to flesh out the experience further with multiplayer, but this mode was cancelled to prioritize fixing the base content.

Many fans were disappointed, but there is good news for them now. Modders have taken matters into their own hand and are now making a multiplayer mod for the game.

Why it matters: Cyberpunk 2077 had the potential to rival GTA 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2’s multiplayer due to the similar open-world settings across these games.

JuiceHead has shared a 9-minute video on YouTube about the mod known as CyberMP. The video explains the mod, highlighting the current challenges this team is facing, the latest updates, and co-op gameplay.

According to the video, this mod unlocks the chaotic fun of open-world co-op that one would expect. Players can find open-world racing, death matches, and free roam, and the best part is that the mod works quite well.

It should be noted that the mod is still in the pre-alpha stage, so fans shouldn’t expect it to arrive anytime soon. There is still a lot of work to be done on the mod right now, so a release is likely quite far away.

However, this project has plenty of people excited about the premise of Cyberpunk 2077 multiplayer. Unfortunately, the modders confirmed that quests won’t be available in co-op.

Modders have been working on the project since last year and have made significant progress despite the challenges of such an ambitious mod.

CDPR is now done with the game and is focusing on The Witcher and Cyberpunk 2077 sequels. Therefore, many fans are glad to see modders taking things into their own hands and delivering what seems to be a solid concept already.
