Upcoming COD: Black Ops 7 To Launch With Goofy Skins Yet Again

Meanwhile, Battlefield 6 Is Choosing The Grounded Route!

Story Highlight
  • COD: Black Ops 7 will launch with unrealistic and goofy cosmetics.
  • The special edition reveals that Black Ops 7 will also stick with absurd skins like the last entry instead of being grounded.
  • Battlefield 6 devs have called out COD for these choices, as it is shaping up to be a more realistic FPS.

COD has gone from being a realistic FPS series that targeted core fans to a commercialized behemoth IP trying to collaborate with as many media franchises as possible. Unexpectedly, to fans’ dismay, this has led to the recent titles having many cartoony and weird skins.

COD: Black Ops 6 also came under fire by fans for having many outlandish skins, which led to even Battlefield 6 developers taking a jab at the giant franchise. A new leak now reveals that the upcoming COD: Black Ops 7 will also be launching with these goofy cosmetics.

Why it matters: The leak revealing unrealistic skins shows that Black Ops 7 will be no different than the past few entries, which have featured some of the most absurd cosmetics ever seen in the genre.

The game’s vault edition will come with unrealistic skins, as the leak reveals.

As shared by Call of Duty enthusiast @charlieINTEL on Twitter, Black Ops 7’s vault edition has leaked ahead of the official launch. The special edition has revealed some peculiar and unrealistic skins that are far from a realistic military FPS experience.

While not as weird and goofy as the Beavis and Butthead and American Dad skins that we have seen in Black Ops 6, the leaked cosmetics still suggest that the franchise is going to stick to a collaboration-first strategy with Black Ops 7.

On the other hand, Battlefield 6 developers have confirmed that the game will be grounded and stick to a realistic military theme, unlike COD. This decision has led many industry experts and fans to believe that Battlefield 6 will ‘boot stomp’ Black Ops 7 this year.

American Dad In Call of Duty
COD has featured cartoony skins in recent years.

However, Activision has rejected the Battlefield 6 threat, believing that COD is too big to die—a claim that appears more unlikely over time because the Battlefield 6 open beta has already surpassed 500k daily active players.
