Xbox Series S Limitations Causing Problems Again!

Story Highlight
  • Black Myth: Wukong is set to release on PC and PS5 on August 20.
  • The game will be delayed on Xbox Series S|X due to the Series S optimization.
  • The developer has yet to announce the release date, but it might take some time.

Black Myth: Wukong is a highly anticipated Souls-like that is set to release on August 20, 2024. The game has a lot of hype behind it, as its previous playtests have been successful.

The Souls-like has been shown again at Summer Game Fest, but one interesting detail at the event caught everyone’s eye. The game is now available for pre-order and will be released worldwide on August 20.

However, it will be delayed on the Xbox Series S|X due to optimization reasons.

Why it matters: The Xbox Series S is now known for making developers go the extra lengths for their games.

As shared by Shinobi602, the Xbox Series S|X counterparts of Black Myth: Wukong won’t be arriving on August 20.

According to the developers, the game is currently being optimized for this platform. While this is unfortunate for Xbox fans, it seems the developers were held back by the limited hardware capabilities of the Xbox Series S.

There have been many similar cases in the past, with Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 being the latest one. Moreover, Baldur’s Gate 3 and Alan Wake 2 faced similar problems during development.

The release date for Xbox Series S|X has yet to be announced. The developer has stated that it will be announced once the quality meets their standards. While there is a little more wait, it should be worth it if the final product is well-optimized.

Fans have been praising the art direction and graphics, and those who were lucky enough to play the demo have nothing but praise for it. Last month, it became the most wish-listed game on Steam because of that.

Overall, there is still a lot of excitement for this Souls-like.
