Bigger Screen, Bigger Fun!

Story Highlight
  • Gaming on a 100-inch screen through a projector makes everything better.
  • It amplifies the intensity of action games, while making multiplayer games all the more fun.
  • Thanks to modern technology, input delay and image quality also remain uncompromised.

Gaming displays have come a long way over the last two decades. With resolutions going as high as 4K and technologies like OLED and Mini-LED, gaming displays are more vivid and crispier than ever.

However, the typical size of gaming screens hasn’t evolved much. Most console gamers stick to TVs no bigger than 65 inches, while PC gamers prefer the sweet spot of 27-inch and 32-inch monitors.

I’ve always wondered, then, what it would feel like to play games on a massive 100-inch projector for a theatre-like experience. Fortunately, a modern smart projector can make this dream a reality.

Why it matters: Almost everyone has dreamed of playing games on a screen as big as a theatre’s at one point or another.

Why Game on A Projector

A Projector Can Make Any Surface A Viable Display

It goes without saying, but a 100-inch screen for gaming can make for a completely transformative experience.

For starters, modern projectors boast high brightness, sharp resolution, and low input lag, all things necessary for a solid gaming experience. If anything, the project adds to the cinematic feel of the experience without taking anything away from it.

In my opinion, this should be incredibly handy for games like Assassin’s Creed or Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. On the multiplayer side of things, games like Rocket League and Warzone can be incredibly exciting on the big screen.

Also, let’s not forget the strength of portability. Projectors can be taken to different places and connected to different devices. Here are a few recommendations if you’re looking to start with games on a projector.

Racing Games

Forza Horizon 5 xbox
Forza Offers Great Racing Gameplay And Gorgeous Visuals

Racing games are inherently suited to big screens. I believe titles like Forza Horizon 5, Gran Turismo 7, and F1 24 should be great when played with a 100-inch view, giving players the ability to see the open road ahead, every turn visible before it shows up on the minimap.

The wide view of the projector also adds to the already-present sense of realism in these titles. When combined with a solid sound setup, the entire experience turns into a mini racing simulation.

Action-Adventure Games

I love story-driven games, and the likes of God of War, Assassin’s Creed Mirage, and Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom lend themselves extremely well to this sort of experience.

In particular, the cinematic nature of these games is elevated by the screen size, making each explosion and impact hit harder than the last. Ultimately, action-adventure games come to life like never before.

Sports Games

EA Sports FC 24/ FIFA
EA Sports FC Remains One of The Most Popular Sports Games

Games like EA Sports FC, Madden, and NBA 2K are among the most popular in the industry. When played on a 100-inch screen, they mimic the sport itself, presenting each pass, shot, and play in vivid clarity.

The best thing about sports games is that the entire family can join in on the fun, creating a cheerful and memorable experience powered by the massive 100-inch screen.

Party And Multiplayer Games

When friends want to join in on the fun, games like Smash Bros, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, and Fortnite can be perfect for this type of viewing experience. The 100-inch screen even makes split-screen gameplay better, adding further intensity to games with 1v1 modes like Sparking Zero.

I can’t speak for everyone, but co-op or PVP multiplayer on such a massive screen with friends would certainly be a gaming session for the ages.

Perfecting The Projector Setup

While the projector does most of the job for you, it’s important to take care of a few things before starting the ultimate gaming journey on a 100-inch screen.

For starters, I recommend using an HDMI connection and toggling on ‘low input lag’ for smooth gameplay. Adjusting the picture mode to ‘Game’ is also recommended to ensure the best picture quality. Finally, the projector should be paired with a high-quality Bluetooth speaker or soundbar.

Of course, there’s a lot more to a projector than the basics. Access to a 100-inch screen through a projector also allows you to watch movies, TV shows, in addition to enjoying games like never before.

If, like me, you plan on buying one eventually, consulting a 100-inch projector guide during the setup process may be a good idea. If everything is done right, these projectors can truly bring games to life.
