"The Japanese Architecture, The roofs Are Super Complex"

Story Highlight
  • Assassin’s Creed Shadows was delayed for the second time just recently.
  • Ubisoft has revealed the main reason for the game’s delay was that the parkour needed more polish.
  • The gaming giant is betting everything on Shadows, so it isn’t taking any risks and polishing the game as much as possible.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows has been delayed two times already. The first time, the game was delayed due to the failure of Star Wars Outlaws. The game was heavily trolled online due to its poor gameplay, which spooked Ubisoft, resulting in another delay for improvements.

However, the gaming giant had to delay it again as it wanted to implement fans’ feedback and improve the title even more. Ubisoft has just recently revealed the main reason for delaying Shadows, saying that it wanted to further polish parkour

Why it matters: A gameplay footage of parkour from Shadows was released recently, and Ubisoft revealed a lot of further information in its blog. The impressions of the parkour were very positive, but Ubisoft isn’t taking any risks at this time.

AC Shadows Has Come A Long Way After Receiving Massive Backlash Last Year

The director of Assassin’s Creed Shadows, Charles Benoit, spoke to IGN in a recent preview event and revealed the main reason for the game’s delay. He said that the main reason for the delay was that the parkour could be polished even more

The main feature that needed extra tweaking was the parkour system, which Benoit says was running up against an obstacle unique to Feudal Japan.

He further revealed that Japanese architecture is super complex, especially the roofs. According to him, this is the most complicated thing he has ever worked with when compared to Odyssey and Syndicate.

We needed specific codes and specific animations to support something super fluid, changing the transition of the parkour to make it even more fluid.

Benoit also said that they received feedback on this specific bit and wanted to address it. The previews are also out, and they are fairly positive. The game might not have received a similar reception had it been released last year.

The improvements are notable, and it is likely to sell like hotcakes on launch. Ubisoft is solely dependent on Assassin’s Creed Shadows as it is on the verge of bankruptcy. So, hopefully, the gaming giant can find the break it has been looking for.
