Assassin’s Creed Mirage Maintains Solid 60FPS On Xbox Series S

Can Drop As Low As 864p For FPS Target!

Assassin’s Creed Mirage finally delivers a classic assassin experience, earning a 7 out of 10 rating in our review.

The game runs well on PC, and it appears the same holds true for its console counterparts. According to testing from Digital Foundry, Assassin’s Creed Mirage holds a stable 60FPS on each current-generation console, even the much weaker Xbox Series S.

Why it matters: The Xbox Series S has begun to show its limitations, with many developers recently calling it out for its weak GPU performance. Therefore, Ubisoft’s latest release has impressed users of the budget console.

The report highlights Assassin’s Creed Mirage’s frame rate and resolution targets on each current-generation console.

For the Xbox Series S, the game offers two modes. The quality mode is locked at 30FPS, showing zero signs of frame rate drops while running at a dynamic resolution between 1512p and 1620p.

To target a higher frame rate, this resolution is lowered to a dynamic 1080p, dropping as low as 864p in the most intense scenarios. However, this results in a 60FPS gameplay experience for the most part.

Performance mode comes with a significant hit to image quality, but the tradeoff is worth it for the smoother experience. Nonetheless, this is a great result for the Xbox Series S after the console has been criticized recently.

Both Xbox Series X and PS5 also perform well in Assassin’s Creed Mirage, illustrating Ubisoft’s optimization. At the highest end, these consoles aim for a dynamic 4K experience, while performance mode targets 1800p.

While these results are impressive, it is important to note that Ubisoft’s latest offering is a cross-generation title, making it easier to run for weaker hardware.

While recent games like Baldur’s Gate 3 highlighted the drawbacks of the Xbox Series S, forcing Larian Studios to delay split screen, Assassin’s Creed Mirage delivers an enjoyable experience across all platforms.

We believe the Xbox Series S is a great console despite its downsides, and optimizing games plays a vital role in the end result. A performance mode is always welcome, even if it comes with significant cutbacks.

Assassin’s Creed Mirage offers a scaled-back experience compared to its predecessor, but this approach leads to positive results in many aspects. The game often looks impressive for a cross-generation title and delivers a solid 60FPS experience across all three current-generation consoles.
