Ubisoft Seems To Have The Right Team For The Job!

Story Highlight
  • Ubisoft has named three developers in charge of leading Assassin’s Creed’s future.
  • This team includes the Assassin’s Creed 4 creative director, with the other two leaders also bringing experience from the game.
  • All in all, the French publisher is looking to franchise veterans to secure the IP’s future.

Following a series of major shakeups and changes, Ubisoft has established Vantage Studios’ Creative Houses and outlined its goal of making flagship IPs annual $1 billion franchises.

As the company works towards these goals, it has also outlined the new leadership in charge of steering Assassin’s Creed to new heights. The good news is that much of this team boasts experience with fan-favorite titles like Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag.

Why it matters: Black Flag remains a popular title, being one of the last few universally beloved entries of the series before Ubisoft transitioned to the RPG model.

Ubisoft has named three key membersof the Assassin’s Creed brand today. Martin Schelling is the new Head of the franchise, with his previous experience including a role as Producer on Revelations, Black Flag, Origins, and more.

Jean Guesdon, the new Head of Content, previously directed both Assassin’s Creed 4 and Origins. However, he had already been a part of Ubisoft long before these games were created.

Finally, Francois De Billy, the future Head of Production Excellence, also brings experience from past titles, such as Assassin’s Creed Revelations and Black Flag. More recently, he worked on Assassin’s Creed Origins and Valhalla.

Looking at the team, Black Flag stands out as the common game that all three leaders contributed to. It’s only fitting that Ubisoft chose this team, given the fact that it is currently working on a remake of Assassin’s Creed 4.

As the French giant puts it, the same creatives that helped the series rise the ranks of gaming in the past will help it reach new heights moving forward.
