AMD Backtracks On Its Decision To End RDNA 1 & 2 Optimization, Will Still Get Regular Support

The RX 5000 and 6000 GPUs Will Continue With The Support!

Story Highlight
  • AMD says it is listening to its users’ feedback and not ending support for RDNA 1 and 2.
  • The RX 5000 and 6000 series will continue to receive optimization, bug fixes, and other updates.
  • Previously, it was announced that older GPUs will see the end of support, causing uproar.

AMD recently caused a massive uproar among fans when a report claimed that it would end day 1 optimization for RDNA 1 and 2 GPUs, which include the RX 5000 and 6000 series. However, the company has backtracked now.

The tech giant confirmed that it will indeed continue RDNA 1 and 2 support, meaning that your GPUs will still get proper optimization, game support for newer releases, stability, and other bug fixes.

Why it matters: The RX 5000 and 6000 series still have many users who would’ve been left in the dust if the optimization had ended, so it’s good to see that the company still listens to its fans.

AMD Statement
AMD has released a statement revealing continued support for RDNA 1 and 2 GPUs.

In an official statement, AMD confirmed the continued support. They claim to have received feedback from its users and that AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition 25.10.2 will still be released for older RDNA GPUs.

AMD states that its goal is to deliver the best gaming experience for all Radeon users. They’ve separated the code paths for the latest RDA 3 and 4 cards; in this way, their engineers can focus on keeping optimization for older cards.

AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT
It was recently revealed that only the newer RX 6000 and 7000 series will continue with support

So, while the older ones won’t get feature updates, which is understandable, they will still get optimization and stability patches. Due to the different code, they can focus on newer GPUs separately, providing the best experience for all.

All in all, users of older GPUs will be glad to hear about this new development. The RX 6000 series cards are still among the most popular Steam GPUs, so restricting the optimization would’ve put so many users at risk.
