Fallout 4 was initially released in 2015. The game sought to elevate Bethesda’s open-world RPG formula, immersing players in an engaging RPG experience.
Nearly seven years after the game was released, Bethesda has provided some new information about Fallout 4. According to a new Bethesda blog post, Fallout 4 is set to receive a next-generation update in 2023.
The update aims to elevate the game for the new consoles and PC platforms. Fallout 4 will soon support 4K resolution and high frame-rate options. However, exact resolutions and frame-rate targets have not been provided by Bethesda. The update will be released for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S|X and PC
Interestingly, Fallout 4 has already been updated for certain consoles like the PlayStation 4 Pro and Xbox One X. These consoles provide 1440p and 4K resolutions for the title while aiming for 30fps. Xbox Series X users can also currently run the game at 60 fps but are limited to a resolution of 1080p.
The new update should provide a much higher quality experience across all the new consoles. The PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series S|X is much more capable than last-generation hardware and should not struggle to perform better than previous consoles.
Furthermore, Bethesda also claims that additional bug fixes are coming to Fallout 4. Bethesda’s open-world games have been notorious for their bugs, so fans will be pleased to know that the developer is looking to remedy this problem to an extent. Bonus Creation Club content will also be included in the update.
The Fallout franchise has garnered a considerable fan base over the years. At the moment, Bethesda Games has their hands full with Starfield, but fans will be happy to learn that the developer is still supporting the Fallout games.
An exact date for the next-gen update has not been provided. Fans can expect to learn more in the coming months as the release date for the next-gen update draws nearer.
